Knocked down

When life knocks you to your knees, and it will, why, get up! If it knocks you to your knees again, as it will, well, isn’t that the best position from which to pray? ~ Ethel Barrymore

These are tough times for so many of us! We’ve been knocked down – hard – and it may be taking us a while to get up. Or maybe we’ve among those who’ve gotten knocked down a few times now. As Ms. Barrymore put it, being on our knees puts us in a great position to pray!

These changing times are full of uncertainty – and that is unsettling. Many of us, whether we speak about it or not, feel afraid. If we can’t or won’t talk about our fear, we feel alone, lonely, less able to fend for ourselves. We feel vulnerable.

I wish we could reach out more and admit our fears, come together and share truthfully how we’re feeling. But few of us want to be seen as weak. What was that line in the deodorant commercial? “Never let ‘em see you sweat.” If those of us who are sweaty could band together and be more vulnerable with one another, what might we be able to stand up for together?

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” ~ Helen Keller

When I’ve been knocked down, I want some gentle support to get back up.  This is one of the reasons I’m offering the Morning Blessing.  Check it out here:  Morning Blessing
